Widespread. The largest North American heron (Ardeidae). This individual was successful in its hunt as can be seen in the lead photo. In actual sequence, the first image would follow photo number 5.

Habitat:

Observed along the Galloway Creek arm of Lake Springfield within the Springfield Conservation Nature Center area.
