Flowers of Alnus serrulata are unisexual. The long catkins are the male flowers.. Female flowers occur as short catkins clustered near the top of the male catkins.

Habitat:

Alnus serrulata grows as shrubs. up to 6-7 feet tall, along the shore of the lake.
