Family: Nymphalidae. Wingspan 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) Orange with black veins and black spots and dashes. Adults feed on variety of flowers including red clover, thistle and Purple coneflower. Eggs are laid in the fall months. Host: Usually only wild violet.
On lawn near the road (purple clover) 100 yards (as the birds fly) from large state park with lake, woodlands and meadow (Beltzville State Park)
Thanks for the correct ID bayucca. It was really larger than only one I found more than one year ago. Great! This is only the second one I have seen.
Look at the hindwing. In Cybele you only have some thin "bow-like pins" at the margin. In Claudia and yours you have these round spots.
