Fomitopsis ochracea

Description:

Large bracket fungus (~10-12 inches wide). Upper surface had zones of color - cream on the outer edge, then various shades of reddish brown - black. Cream-colored pores.

Habitat:

Growing near the base of a tree in a dense, wet forest.

Notes:

Newly described in 2008
