Arion rufus
Even though the most commonly used name for this species is 'Red Slug' I've chosen another synonym because of it's dark and 'chocolate-like' colour. This slug was approximately 12-13 cm in length when extended, and was dark brown. It's colour even appeared black while I was looking at it; but it came out as dark brown on my pics... (not sure if I should change my eyes or my phone-camera...) It sports a orange-reddish-striped fringe boarding it's sole, and dark tentacles. The respiratory pore is located toward the front of the mantle.
Found on edges of forest (predominantly coniferous, mainly spruce and fir tree) on one of Jura mountain passes, at some 1300m of altitude.
In this species, the body colours range from brick-orange to black, but the sole fringe apparently remains orange-reddish.
