My siblings and I used to just call it a Playdoh moth, because the first time we found one, we or it for a pinch of Playdoh. :)

Very similar to Rosy Maple Moth (eastern USA), but different markings. Try Royal Silkworm Moths. Family: Saturniidae, Subfamily: Ceratocampinae.
