Rhyncomya sp.

Description:

Female blow fly (Rhyncomya sp.) foraging on field eryngo (Eryngium campestre) flowers. Rhyncomya is a genus of the family Rhiniidae. In Greece, according Fauna Europaea, are present the following species: R. cyanescens, R. peusi, R. speciosa and R. zernyana. I found photos of Rhyncomya speciosa and Rhyncomya zernyana with the last tergite metallic green.

Habitat:

Deciduous woodland margin.
