Chrysomelid beetle

Chrysophtharta variicollis

Description:

A reddish-brown beetle about 6 mm long with a rounded body and gold flecked elytra.

Habitat:

Young eucalyptus tree - ? species

Notes:

My thanks to martinl for the ID. This beautiful little beetle was spotted with several other olive green eucalyptus leaf beetles on the one tree. They are all out this Spring !

Chrysophtharta variicollis, I think. They vary, and are sometimes black http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/815... They do have a 'skirt' that is only just visible in your image.
