Lichen Usnea florida

Usnea florida

Description:

I found this amongst some small plants at the side of a path beside a river. Not sure if it was growing there, or if it fell from a tree.

Habitat:

I'm not sure why you think location is relevant Pam. Check this http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20m?kind=...

yes Mark it certainly does, but it's a long way from Ireland ! Seems like there are other species of Usnea found in Costa Rica, but my internet is too slow to download images !! Thanks for the lead Mark and Luis.

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
