Blue-green sharpshooter

Hordnia atropunctata

Description:

Small (less than 1/2") green insect with black-lined wing cases, thorax and head. Head is yellow and white.

Habitat:

On the leaf of a lush garden annual in the coastal temperate rainforest (old mixed Doug fir, hemlock, Sitka spruce, alder).

Notes:

Perhaps some sort of leaf hopper. Didn't see it fly; assumed the back end were wing cases because of their shape. It stayed still while I watched it for 10 minutes or so.
