Red-shouldered hawk

Buteo lineatus

Description:

This red-shouldered hawk has staked out a territory near a pond and can be seen there often. Crows may warn you that the hawk is there before you see it as they often will harass the bird when it alights on a branch for a while. This raptor has beautiful plumage.
