Pygmy Grasshopper

Rhipiteryx sp.

Description:

This tiny pygmy grasshopper is a striking black and white and is only about 3 mm long. It is very fast and flies readily. It is probably of the genus Rhipiteryx of the Family Rhipipterygidae.

Habitat:

Rocks, boulders and stone stairways along the river of the Chiflon Waterfall, Chiapas, Mexico.
