Description:

There were several tricolored herons foraging at the refuge. Small fish is their favorite prey. They have grey-blue upper parts with a white line along the neck. The belly is white. In breeding season they have filamentous plumes on their heads and necks.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in southern Louisiana. Coastal canals.
