Egretta tricolor
There were several tricolored herons foraging at the refuge. Small fish is their favorite prey. They have grey-blue upper parts with a white line along the neck. The belly is white. In breeding season they have filamentous plumes on their heads and necks.
Spotted at the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in southern Louisiana. Coastal canals.
