Ladder-Backed Woodpecker

Dryobates scalaris

Description:

Based upon references, that pictured is a female ladder-backed. I also note this species resembles the Nuttall's Woodpecker, but based upon location where this was spotted, I believe it to be a Ladder-Backed.

Habitat:

This bird was spotted in a riparian/wooded area of Patagonia, AZ...a few miles north of the US/Mexico border.
