Ringless Honey Mushrooms

Armillaria tabescens

Description:

Clump of furry, brown capped mushrooms.

Habitat:

Moist soil, on the edge of a mixed forest.

Notes:

Spotted this clump about ten feet away from the clump I posted on Sept. 16. It is the less mature version of that spotting. I have seen several other clumps of this species around my neighborhood. Grows on hardwood roots. Especially oak and maple.

Lovely spotting, tomk3886. I suspect these are also ringless honey mushrooms, mainly cause of the brown scales at the center of the caps.
