Nēnē

Branta sandvicensis

Description:

These beautiful geese are endemic to Hawai'i and were down to a population of only about 30 individuals in the 1950s... Thanks to a lot of work by conservationists, there are now over 2,000 living in the wild. Hopefully things continue to look up for these great birds!

Notes:

a.k.a. Hawaiian Goose
