Metallic Black Blue Wasp around 2 cm in length. With a yellow cap on it's head

Habitat:

Noticed it crawling along my back verandah late this afternoon in the outer western suburbs of Sydney

I have to correct my previous comment. I had totally forgotten that I'd previously posted photos of this wasp from a sighting in 2016.

Nice one, James. I remember seeing something similar to this in Sydney but didn't know what it was. This definitely looks familiar, so nice to be able to put a name to the face :)
