Salted Shield Lichen

Parmelia saxatilis

Description:

Very common grey-greenish foliose lichen, proliferating on a dead branches. Here, thallus some 10 cm in diameter, but we have seen many others, smaller and much bigger ones.

Habitat:

Found on a forest floor in deciduous tree forest, mainly oaks. Montane environment, valley in between the Jura Mountain and lake Geneva (Leman); forest on the French-Swiss border
