DeKay's Brown Snake

Storeria dekayi

Description:

This short, thick-bodied snake is gray or light brown and is marked with a light stripe down the middle of its back. The stripe is bordered on both sides with two rows of small dark spots. It's belly is white or light pink with dark spots along the edges of the belly scales.

Habitat:

Upland and lowland woodlands near fresh water sources. Also swamps, bogs, ponds and gardens.

Notes:

Found this guy after a prescribed burn.
