Description:

This plant of secondary forest and swampy ground has showy yellow flowers. The fruits develop into a star-like structure displaying seeds with a vivid red fleshy covering--very attractive to some birds. The broad leaves were once used as food wrappers and "disposable plates" in Singapore.

Habitat:

Secondary tropical rainforest and swampy ground in tropical Southeast Asia.
