Lime Swallowtail Butterfly

Papilio demoleus malayanus

Description:

Papilio demoleus a.k.a. Citrus Swallowtail. This species is a very beautiful butterfly species but unfortunately an invasive species that has spread to Borneo and become pests to lime plants. This female has a wingspan of 60-80mm.

Habitat:

Pu Zhao Temple flower garden jogging trail, Tawau, Sabah

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy: 100m diameter. Spotted this with Dan while we were venturing the jogging trail there with lots of garden plants planted around. It was easy to spot for its bright colors and calmness. Dan's spotting of it http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/161... Finally I am starting to upload recent spottings during outdoor spottings with Dan.

I admit pamsai does have a point. As for quality of the photo, even with just my iPod I think it's still comparable to yours.

Great explanation, Pamsai.
Dan, I know that your camera was not with you so it is not a fair competition.
However, you were fully prepared with your camera equipment in Bukit Gemuk and Tawau Hills Park so your spottings there will appear a lot better than mine :-)

Dan, it may also depend on what time you post them. Here in India, I post most of my spottings in the morning when they are all sleeping in the States, so people there only see them if someone else comments later or they go back through the postings or look at my site. Just a thought!

We have almost identical spottings! Angle and everything, but I guess people like yours more or it got noticed more as you have more than double the favorites and comments. Thanks for including mine in your notes.
