Golden Buprestid Jewel Beetle

Buprestis aurulenta

Description:

Metallic Wood Boring Beetle, very shiny green with golden lines at edges of wing cases. Approximately 3/4" long and 1/4" wide at midpoint.

Habitat:

Trees and milled lumber. Larvae bore and then emerge as adult beetles. Average lifespan is 2-5 years.

Notes:

I think it thrives on fir trees, but not sure at this point in my research. It does resemble the Jeweled Ash Borer Beetle, but is significantly a different species.
