Excellent picture.
I think it is a sawfly larva.
A lovely pattern. Looks like it's got thoracic legs and 6 pairs of abdominal legs (prolegs). Ivan, do you know what plant this was on ? might need it for an ID. The leaf appears to have a serrated margin.
