Were there acacia trees in the area? That is supposed to be one of the host plants. Also, a note to all of those who like to photograph caterpillars--if you ever see one that has spines, hairs, or what looks like fur (flannel moths), please do not attempt to handle them with your bare hands--those hairs can give you quite a sting!

I believe this to be a younger instar (later instars=the caterpillars molt their skins kind of like a snake does between each molt) of Setora nitens, "Walker's Limacodid", Walker, 1855
