The only bird endemic to Florida, the Florida Scrub Jay is a large passerine with blue plumage, a medium-sized bill and a long tail with a pale chest and belly. Their habitat is strictly restricted to scrublands with scrub oaks, which is why their range is so small.
This individual was seen at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most reliable spots for the species.
