Cane Toad

Bufo marina

Description:

This extremely large toad is native from south Texas to the Amazon Basin, but it has been introduced widely, to places such as Florida, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. In Australia, it has caused many problems for native species. It was originally introduced there to control sugar cane pests, but it ended up eating almost anything it could fit into its mouth. It has been named one of the most destructive introduced species of all time.

Habitat:

Lowland rainforest.

Notes:

Came to a light near the house I was staying in.
