Fan throated lizard

Description:

This lizard belongs to the family Agamidae and is the only Agamid with 4 toes on it's hind legs. It is known as Fan throated due to the gular appendage near the throat region. This gular appendage turns metallic blue in males during the breeding season. Found commonly in the Indian subcontinent.

Habitat:

Mostly found in open grasslands and scrublands.

Notes:

This particular individual is a juvenile and had a mite present on it's head. It was basking when found.
