A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Accipiter cooperii
Dark gray back with an orange-barred belly. The top of the head has a gray cap, and the eyes are dark red.
Suburban neighborhood
I have a confession: I put out bird feeders, not for the colorful songbirds, but for the predators. I live in a condo complex and for two years I have enjoyed various sparrows, finches and doves. We have lots of kingbirds, corvids, robins and say's phoebes in the area too. I see the occasional buteo fly over our complex but the more built up things get the less wildlife I see. This morning I was leaving the house and saw a cute red house finch sitting on a limb by the feeder. I grabbed my camera from my car and when I turned around to take the picture there was another bird in my viewfinder. I finally got predators at my feeder! This handome coop didn't stay long but I am hoping he will return.

As long as the squirrel goes to a good cause :)
My best guess was a dove. Light grey with blackened tips. It's been raining here a lot so I haven't had a chance to look closely. Hopefully he gets the damn squirrel that has showed up recently too! ;)
Haha that's what I'm here for, have to call you out on stuff like that! That's great! Could you tell what bird they were from?
Haha! I totally did Ashley! (Thanks for calling me out!) I was lazy posting late at night, go easy on me! I found feathers and breakfast leftovers on my sidewalk this morning too so hopefully he will stick around!
Awesome that you finally got one! You totally stole my description too haha!
