Organ Pipe Mud Dauber

Trypoxylon politum

Notes:

After reading up on this wasp, I discovered they paralyze spiders for food for their larvae, so I opened up a food chamber. Spiders!

Super investigative photo series! We used this picture for the Eyes on Central PA mission to take a look at this relatively unknown pollinator: http://www.wearecentralpa.com/story/d/st...

Thanks, JoeMurgo. I opened up the chambers because of the item I read about the paralyzed spiders in the food chamber. I went out later to take another look and the chambers were all empty. My wife, who is very allergic to bee stings, was VERY unhappy with me!
