Description:

Bright purple, long-stemmed mushrooms growing out of a rotting trees and leaf litter.

Habitat:

A dark, wet, wooded area of a local nature preserve.

Notes:

Although this mushroom is edible, it's not considered a good choice. While not inherently toxic, in soils that are polluted with arsenic, it can bioaccumulate a high concentration of that element.
