Satin Bowerbird bower

Ptilonorhynchus violaceus

Description:

Performance bower made from twigs & decorated with blue coloured items by the male Satin Bowerbird in Australia. Used as a display area during courtship. Nest is built in a separate location. (Male is rich blue/black with violet blue eyes, female is greenish with violet/blue eyes). Items collected naturally would have included flowers & berries, now includes man made objects such as plastic pegs, bottle tops and straws.

Habitat:

Found in eastern Australia in woodlands and rainforest. This one in temperate rainforest in mountain country.

You've caught the perspective the female might have as she checks out the bower. Very cool!

Thanks Susi T-B. There's a second one in the collection that is from a different location closer to the coast. I've yet to catch the birds in action at the bower.
