Variegated Fairy Wren ?

Malurus lamberti

Description:

Small wren with distinctive pale blue cap and cheeks on a dark blue black head. There are flashes of a deep blue around the shoulder, and reddish brown on the wings. The tail is quite long and has a pale grey-blue colour.

Habitat:

Stayed low to the ground, hopping around amongst ferns and undergrowth in heavy woodland.

Notes:

The Variegated Fairy Wren (Malurus lamberti) and Red-winged Fairy Wren (Malurus elegans) look pretty much identical to me - this spotting happened in about 3 seconds before he was gone, so it could be either of them. Unfortunately, neither of the photos is good enough to give a clear identification (at least not to me).
