It was a pretty "wow look at that!" moment--we had passed many ant trails on the road. Carol1, it was spotted here: http://nbbd.com/godo/orlandowetlands/
@Karen, I will add it to the snake mission as well.
I figured that was the case, Emily. We searched for the skull in the ant trail but didn't find it. I thought the ribs were rather long for such a short snake. And we did see a young moccasin (I believe) a little way down the trail.
With no skull, it will be next to impossible to identify! In Florida, you all have so many snakes! Very cool spotting, either way! Thanks for adding this to the Osteology Mission too!
Oops... Never mind! Posted to the wrong spotting! Ugh.
Oh gosh I've seen these before.... Name eludes me at the moment. I'll be back!!!
It may also be worth adding this to the snake missions. There isn't much to go on but Lisa or cameron might even be able to narrow down the species a bit based on size, proportions & location.
Thought I had; thanks for the reminder, Karen.
Very interesting! You could also add this to the signs of wildlife mission.
