Nymphalid Butterfly

Ypthima sp.

Description:

Brown butterfly that almost disappears into a pile of dry leaves. I initially thought it was a Common Five-ring butterfly and almost did not photograph it...but now I see it has 3 pairs of eyespots on the hind wings.

Habitat:

This is an old garden, now a sanctuary for birds. Right in the middle of the city and filled with ancient fruit trees, lichens, ferns, spiders, butterflies, moths, mushrooms...a biodiversity sanctuary!

Notes:

Can some one help me take it to the species level, please?
