Description:

Juveniles Australian magpies have lighter greys and browns in the middle the starker blacks and whites of their plumage compared to the adult. Immature birds have dark brownish eyes until around two years of age, when their eyes become red.

Habitat:

Inner city botanical gardens. Several adults nearby. These birds prefer open areas such as grassland, fields, parks, gardens and streets, with scattered trees or forest nearby.They nest and shelter in trees but forage mainly on the ground.
