Thank you Liam. I think you are right that it is not a spanish moss epiphyte. It seems to be a Beard Lichen of the genus Usnea.
Spanish moss is an epiphyte, a type of plant. This doesn't look like Spanish moss to me, though. They are usually more curled and gray. A lichen is more likely.
