The Small White (female)

Pieris rapae

Description:

I saw this behaviour often. The butterfly would land and extend her abdomen upwards if a male was fluttering around her. "An unreceptive female may fly vertically or spread her wings and raise the abdomen to reject the male." wiki. The Small White (Pieris rapae) is a small- to medium-sized butterfly species of the Yellows-and-Whites family Pieridae.
