Grey Snout Moth

Hypena masurialis

Description:

Moth, just a little more than 1cm in length. Never saw it spread its wings. Brownish. Hypena masurialis Guenée, 1854, the Grey Snout, is a moth of the Noctuidae family.. The adult moths have dark brown wings with a diagonal line from near the wingtip to halfway along the rear edge of each forewing. They have a wingspan of about 2cm.

Habitat:

Spotted in the garage.

Notes:

Although the images match, I still can't find a Philippine record for H. masurialis. Compare with H.obliqualis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypena_obli.... Reference: http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Tax.... http://www.jpmoth.org/Noctuidae/Hypenina.... Can this be the same species as in my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/154... Although in this latter spotting, the moth is 2cm and almost creamy-white in colour. But they look very similar.
