This species is originally from South America.

Oh, and as a matter of interest, there are only two species that I have ever witnessed feeding on these trees, one on the cones - Little Corella (Cacatua sanguinea), and the other on the shoots - Red-necked Wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus).

Nice spotting. They're very unusual trees. Here's one of the cones I found, and it's not an overly large one either - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/125... And this news clipping shows a large one - http://www.news.com.au/national/bunya-pi... You don't want to get in the way as they plummet to earth.
