Bactrocera cucurbitae
About 1cm body length, first ID'd as B. dorsalis but had to change to B. cucurbitae after further review of Bactrocera spp. images. Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett). Common Names: Melon Fruit Fly or Melon Fly. Insecta: Brachycera: Diptera: Tephritidae: Dacinae: Dacini. The melon fly is a fruit fly of the family Tephritidae. It is a serious agricultural pest, particularly in Hawaii. Source: Wikipedia.
Spotted on the ceiling of the garage. Very near, in the backyard, is our patola or loofah plant of Cucurbitaceae family.
