Dasypodia selenophora
With a wing span of about 90mm this brown moth has beautiful blue circular patterns on either fore-wing, just above a dark wavy pattern. the underside is a pale grey with a dark spot on each wing. Legs are covered with dark brown furry scales. Eyes were prominent. The labial palps are felty and like a pair of short clubs.
Larvae feed on Acacia. This beautiful moth was spotted inside the house
First spotted in February, this year. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/903... This spotting is for recording purposes. Photos show details of the head. Noctuids seen in February this year seem to be out again in November. This beautiful moth was spotted inside the house. I let him out into the night- he wanted to get out as soon as the lights were turned off. Thanks to argybee for the close-up shot of the head (pics 1 & 2)

I'm in love!! What beautiful eyes. :) And interesting little stubs from the back of the head too.
thank you notsoclosetnerd1. My husband took the first shot - I could not reach over to get a shot of the head at that angle - a little too short !
@PerilsOfPlastic - I was delighted to see this beauty again -makes the cycles a little real. Also, it's nice to know that the environment around here is still unspoilt and attracting moths and the like...
Beautiful shots! I especially like the first pic of the head. :)
lovely pattern on wing! Must have made your day to spot it!
