Virginia Opossum

Didelphis virginiana

Description:

small, probably young possum as it was a bit smaller than the one's I usually see. They have catlike size and features with a white face and pointed jaw. Dark ears and feet, overall greyish color to the fur. Tail begins dark and lightens up towards the tip.

Habitat:

spotted in west central ga.

Notes:

Sadly this young possum didn't make it. I assume it was trying to get into my compost bin or was looking to forage in our yard when I let our dogs out one night.
