That is a bummer! It is cool to have an unusual bird visiting you for so long though. They supposedly live 15-20 years in the wild, but without knowing how old he was when you first started seeing him makes it hard to say if he died of old age. So many things could have happened to him though, never know!

Hey, Ashley! Yes, he was coming for SIX years, and then stopped coming about mid March. We are SO bummed out! Not really sure what happened to him. We had so many mating cardinals on our lot across the street and around our property this, I wonder if the males ran him off? Or, of course he could have died, as I am not sure how old he was when he showed up at our feeders six years ago. At any rate, he was such a special bird because of his unusual color and also because he just showed up at the feeder all of the time! Our hearts were really broken when he disappeared! Sort of similar to losing a pet! Hope you are having a great summer and thanks for your comment!
