Lappet Moth

Gastropacha pardale

This cute & curious, hedgehog/leaf-like moth was 3.5 cm / 1.4 inches long. The 4th photo requires a bit of explanation(!) The moth was on a light attached to the ceiling (3rd photo). I accidentally knocked against the lampshade and - ka-donk! - the poor little critter fell on the chair I was standing on, landing on his tail. After a few moments (giving me just time to take a photo), he seemed to recover and fluttered into a 'normal position' (1st 2 photos).

Hills overlooking Manila.

One moth that mimics TWO leaves, very nice series.

Yes, you can see moths in all kinds of weird-looking positions, but I just wanted to clarify that the last photo was accidental! :-)

I wonder what if you had not given that explanation for the last one. :)
