Little Wattlebird

Anthochaera chrysoptera

25 - 30 cm length, dark brown on the back and wings with pale brown on the front of the neck and chest continuing underneath. A sharp, pointed beak turning slightly downward. It's call is loud and guttural, varying between a mellow "ye-kop" to more raucous patterns.

From dry bushland to urban bush settings.

Very territorial, Wattlebirds will claim a particular tree and chase other birds from the area.
