Treehopper

Aethalion sp

Description:

About 1cm in length, grey with black markings and two bright orange patches behind the head. Picture #2 shows adult guarding their eggs and picture #3 is of the nymphs, which show the same colour array as the parents. I don't know if the adults are male or female, I never saw adults that looked different from one another.

Habitat:

Andean thick bushland at about 2500m above sea level. These pictures were taken in a park in the city of Cuenca.

Notes:

Pictures #2 and #3 were taken on different dates.
