Green Tortoise Beetle

Family Chrysomelidae, Tribe Cassidini

Description:

Brilliant green tortoise beetle of the Chrysomelidae family. Related spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/156....

Habitat:

Spotted in the backyard where sweet potato plants are located. Spotted this near the leaf where there were another tortoise beetle species in coitus (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/161...).

Notes:

This species looks very similar to Gratiana pallidula (Boheman) - Eggplant Tortoise Beetle (http://bugguide.net/node/view/40560/bgpa...), and Gratiana graminea (Klug) - Leaf-Feeder Beetle (http://entomology.ifas.ufl.edu/medal/Tro...), and its relative - South American Leaf-Feeding Beetle Gratiana boliviana (Spaeth) (http://pesticide.ifas.ufl.edu/TropicalSo...). However, I could not find any recorded distribution of Gratiana spp. in the Philippines.
