leaftip lerp insect

Description:

Tips of very young leaves of a eucalyptus sapling were curled upwards, hard with excessive growth. The concavity was covered with a waxy material. Some had a brown central eruption on the cover. The rest of the leaf appeared normal.

Habitat:

Eucalyptus - grey box ( E.microcarpa)

Notes:

These little shelters with waxy covers are built by lerps. For a picture of the lerp nymphs have a look at this great by martinl: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/155... Will keep looking for information on these.... and an ID
