Rutilia sp.

Rutilia group (Tachinidae)

Description:

A reasonably large fly. With eyes that looks like it is wearing sunglasses and the head and thorax is a irradessant green and abdomen is black with irradessant greenish spots. Rather striking.

Habitat:

In a wild back yard.

Notes:

We live next to a reserve so could live in amongst gum trees.

That's really interesting to know. I'd certainly love to know more about them.
I'd never seen anything quite like that before. Not even in our visits to south east Asia.

I'm told there is a heap of work yet to be done on this group so Rutilia sp. might be as good as it gets.
