Potter Wasp

Description:

A black wasp with two highly-contrasting yellow bands on the abdomen and yellow spots on the thorax.

Habitat:

Dry bushland near a stream.

Notes:

Encountered whilst walking through the bush. It was sitting stationary on a rock, abdomen 'pumping' slightly. Moved slightly once it became aware of me, but remained in situ.
